Hendrik describes himself as a server jockey in a network world.

His first introduction to Unix and TheInternet was in 1992 at Univ of Pretoria on a IBM RS6000 AIX server which was used for downloading the Linux installation floppies. His first network security teeth was cut on Check Point FireWall-1 and the SunScreen SPF-100 while his Unix knowledge was extended to Sun Solaris,  and HPUX over the years as he worked for and with some ISPs and mobile operators as a Unix Sysadmin, doing all the disk and OS related optimizations, while having to content with network and firewall security issues.

In 2014 he started freelance work as a SysAdmin, but it soon evolved into a business where he is running a micro public-cloud for niche client services on ProxMox servers, first overseas, and now on premise hardware.
